Ring Network Configuration of Industrial Switches - Hirschman Switch
There are generally three types of network connections in a local area network: star type, ring type, and bus type. There are many cases of designing circular networks in the automation system network of municipal water treatment industry, mainly for the stability of the network and to ensure that the two links are mutually backup. When selecting industrial switches, it is necessary to choose management switches.
This time, the HS-3208 series products from Chengdu Huashu Communication Technology Co., Ltd. were used.
Configuration process: The ring network includes 4 network managed industrial switches, and the specific network topology diagram is as follows:

Overall configuration requirements:
All switches participating in the ring network are powered off. One of the ring network switches has the second and fourth bits of the 4-digit dialing code set to ON, while the first and third bits are set to OFF, acting as the master device. The other three switches have the fourth bit of the 4-digit dialing code set to ON, while the first, second, and third bits are set to OFF, acting as slave devices.
After dialing, the industrial switch must be restarted.
2.1 Setting up the industrial switch of PLC1 cabinet as the main equipment
Firstly, dial the code and set 2-4 to ON and 1-3 to OFF. After dialing, restart the industrial switch.
Power on the ring network switch that is set as the master device, and temporarily do not power on the ring network switches of other slave devices (to avoid IP address conflicts during computer settings). After the running light flashes, enter 192.168.20.3 through a PC browser, and a pop-up interface will appear. Enter the username: admin, password: admin, and log in to enter.
After starting the ring network, modify the IP address to ensure that there are no conflicts among the IP addresses in the entire network:
After setting up, it is necessary to maintain the settings and restart the device.
After setting the system alarm, the ALARM status of the switch can be used to determine if there is a fault.
2.2 Set up PLC2 cabinets, PLC3 cabinets, and industrial switches in the central control room as slave devices
Set 1, 2, and 3 to OFF and 4 to ON according to the device's dialing requirements. Restart the device.
Other operations are the same as the main device. The configuration is completed as follows.
3.1 * * * Starting from now, all switches need to be disconnected because the default address for switches is 192.168.20.3.
The key is to power on each device and set it up sequentially!!! Do not power on multiple devices at the same time (whether it is the master or slave device). When setting up, ensure that only one device is powered on, otherwise the IP address will be the same and there will be conflicts.
Once set up, be sure to save the settings parameters and restart.
After completing the 3.3 sequence, all switches will be powered on. As long as they can form a ring, all switch ring network alarm lights will be turned off and ring network RING lights will be on (the master device will flash and the slave device will stay on).
